Nebraska Institute of Forensic Sciences

Educational services were considered an essential part of the goal for the establishment of the Nebraska Institute of Forensic Sciences, Inc. In fact, the Institute is affiliated with other educational institutions in U.S.A. namely, Department of Criminal Justice at Albany State University, Albany, Georgia; Cyril H. Wecht Institute of Forensic Sciences and Law at Duquesne University School of Law, Pittsburgh, PA; Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science at the University of New Haven, CT; and Department of Pathology at Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska. The Institute in conjunction with the Nebraska Forensic Medical Services, P.C. operates the Coroner’s Office for Lancaster County, Lincoln, Nebraska.

The Institute provides a range of professional training programs for medical, legal, law enforcement, and allied services personnel.

The Institute is regularly contacted by students and those seeking career as a forensic scientist or a forensic pathologist. The Institute has developed internship and educational programs for students and resident physicians from Albany State University and Creighton University. The Institute has extensive plans to assist in training African-American forensic scientists and also intends to provide overseas postgraduates, especially from Africa, with core knowledge and practical skills in forensic medicine and forensic sciences. In the latter project, the Institute will work closely and collaborate with the Cyril H. Wecht Institute of Forensic Science and the Law, Pittsburgh, PA, Coroner’s Office of Lancaster County, Nebraska, Coroner’s Office of Allegheny County, Pittsburgh, PA and the Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science at University of New Haven, CT. This collaboration and network will provide the university students and physicians the opportunity to train under the best and foremost forensic experts in the world.
